Mission and History
Mission Rushford is dedicated to meeting the substance abuse and mental health needs of children, adults and families. Working cooperatively with our Hartford Healthcare network partners and others who share our goals, Rushford strives to provide affordable, accessible services of proven effectiveness and high quality that embrace the most current research in prevention, treatment and recovery.
History Founded in 1975 as Tri-County Alcohol Council, Rushford has worked with thousands of individuals for more than 33 years to rebuild their lives and create positive pathways to the future. Hand in hand with the treatment services we offer, Rushford is committed to prevention programs that are rooted in positive youth development principles. In total, more than 15,000 individuals and families use the resources and services of Rushford each year. The agency is named for the late Gus Rushford, a Portland resident and recovering alcoholic who worked for more than three decades helping others in recovery and who was committed to high quality, community-based programs.
